Globally separated by a pandemic was not in any of our plans was it?
Some of us are going stir crazy, pulling on our leashes to be let loose.
Some of us flutter between high as a kite and rock bottom.
Some of us are happy as Larry in our own little bubble whilst this epidemic plays out.
But today is Mothers day and regardless of which ever group you place yourself in, I bet there's only one place you would love to be....
Even though I'm a mum myself, my thoughts are with my own today.
Living only 12 minutes up the road but never feeling further away : (
Some days, a phone call doesn't cut it. So today being a different kind of mothers day, when you can't just pick a bunch of daffodils from the prettiest roundabout between your house and hers and grab a bottle of bubbly from the nearest petrol station...A phone call and a blog post will have to suffice until further notice I'm afraid.
You´re a saint or a liar if your telling me haven't put your mother through absolute sh•t at some point, and come on... she blatantly gets the blame for everything! but as the years pass, we mature a little, have our own offspring. That's when we get it, that's when we start appreciating our mums for all they have done for us and loved us even when we acted like selfish cocky mongrels.
When the tables have well and truly turned on us, the faint echo of ”Just You Wait And See” becomes deafening to our ears and the sting of “It’ll All End In Tears” bitch slaps us in the face.... we may finally start to realise, even if not to the full extent yet, what the real, unconditional, undying, selfless, LOVE of a mother actually means.
So, here I am, balls deep in nappies, failed naps, sleepless nights, 3 times daily food fights and the questions! Jesus the questions! hundreds and thousands of them!
Feeling very appreciative and somewhat nostalgic, pondering over something special I can do for my mum to cheer her up whilst home alone....
I tried to do a Tik Tok for the first time today.... tried and failed miserably f.y.i.
Digital card...too cheesy.
A list of all of the things I love about her? Here we go.....I'm on to something here. YES!
Who doesn't like to hear good things about themselves? Especially when you probably didn't even realise they were good things.
For the cheap seats in the back.
Starting with an obvious one to ease you in....
1. You're Stunning!
Generously passing along your fabulous genes to us lot.
2. ALL THE AB-CRUNCHING, SLIT-EYE BELLY LAUGHS.
3. NOT BEING A BABYSITTING FAN.... (Let´s be honest)
You took care of my boys countless times last summer, always ready to help out at the drop of a hat.
4. YOUR TOUGH.
And you've taught us to be tough too!
Priceless quality now firmly instilled in all Shenton women.
5. YOU´RE AMBITIOUS.
You've had to remould and adapt to the elements over the years for survival .
You have shown us that if you want something in life, you bloody get off your arse and goddamn go get it woman!
6. YOU MAKE INCREDIBLE COFFEES.
And the best dinners while we're at it.
7. YOU REGULARLY LET US KNOW HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF ALL OF US.
8. YOUR VOCAL.
Super social, will talk to anyone.
Creating 4 very chatty young ladies that don't mince their words.
9. EXTROVERT. FUNNY. FIERCE. SUPPORTIVE. SLIGHTLY DELUSIONAL. GREAT HOME MAKER. GREAT CRACK ON A NIGHT OUT. ALWAYS UP FOR A LAUGH. HILARIOUS.

Who wants to be normal anyway?
15. You have single handedly given all 4 of us the tools to become INCREDIBLE MOTHERS!
Only one last thing to add......... RESPECT!
